i know he has a bit of a temper but calling him hard to deal with is a little harsh...
Depressing and exhausting and grumpy. Short for emotional but generally in a negative way, as described.
And he just completely refuses to acknowledge that he deserves nice things and should have fun and enjoy himself and lighten up.
So he needs to bang. Or find a hobby not related to survival. Just. Something that will release serotonin. A sun lamp. Massages. I don’t know; he is just so dour every time I’ve spoken to him.

yeah, we've argued about that before. a few times. i've been trying to convince him he deserves nice things and to be happy for a long time.
[ There's more he could add - that he's not even at the stage where he can convince Onni that he should be happy and fulfilled, because he's still trying to convince him that he deserves to be alive. Learning about the deal that Onni had made with the swan has really shifted Reynir's perspective on just how low Onni's self-worth really is. But that's not the sort of thing he's going to reveal to Bailey. Especially when they seem... not in the gentlest of moods. ]
the thing is,i don't know how much he's told you about his life, but... things haven't been easy for him. there hasn't been a lot of room for fun or thinking about his own comfort or stuff, for a long long time. and he's so stubborn. so, yeah, you're right, and i've been trying to get through to him, but it's kind of a long haul, not a quick fix.
[ He wonders if Onni had snapped at Bailey; maybe they had stepped on a nerve without realizing it, and Onni had reacted the way Onni reacts... Reynir is gonna have to ask him about it tonight when he gets home. ]
i really have been trying. believe me, i want him happy more than anybody. and if i actually thought banging was the best way to do that, trust me, i'd be the first guy in line. but he has to... want to try to get better, before anything i'm doing is gonna have any impact. you know?
